Gwynne is a partner at union-side labor law firm Levy Ratner, P.C., where she has worked for over 20 years, championing the rights of workers and their unions before the National Labor Relations Board and other administrative agencies, in arbitration, in litigation and in contract negotiations.

Education

B.A. from Syracuse University (1974) and J.D. from Rutgers Law School, Newark, NJ (1978).

Professional Experience

After working at Middlesex County Legal Services in New Jersey, Gwynne was hired as a Field Attorney at Region 2 of the National Labor Relations Board in New York City.  Gwynne left the NLRB in 1988 to begin her career as a union-side labor lawyer with Eisner, Levy, Pollack and Ratner, PC. (a predecessor firm to Levy Ratner).  

Professional Affiliations

Gwynne was instrumental in establishing the Minority Caucus of the Lawyers’ Coordinating Committee (“LCC”) of the AFL-CIO and has served on the LCC’s Board of Directors and as Chair of the Minority Caucus. Under Gwynne’s leadership, the Caucus worked with the LCC to develop the Minority Outreach Program for Law Students. 

In August 2003, Gwynne was inducted as a Fellow into The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and was appointed to its Board of Governors in 2008.  Over the years, Gwynne has served as an Associate Editor and Chapter Editor of Developing Labor Law, a publication of the  American Bar Association’s (“ABA”) Labor and Employment Section. She is currently on the Advisory Board of the NYC Chapter of the Labor and Employment Relations Association (“LERA”), and was formerly the Chapter’s President.  Gwynne has presented numerous papers on various workplace and labor law issues at ABA, LCC and state bar conferences as well as the National Academy of Arbitrators’ annual conferences.  

Professional Honors and Achievements

Gwynne was a 2009 recipient of the Peggy Browning Fund’s Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of workers.  

Community Service

Gwynne initiated an annual fundraiser for The Brotherhood/Sister Sol, a youth program in Harlem, and serves on its Benefit Committee for its other major fundraising event.
